CIHS 2013 wins over participants with right formula
Date:2013/12/15
As the world’s second largest hardware event, the China International Hardware Show (CIHS) has, once again, sealed its position as the industry’s bellwether event in China. Following the event’s successful closing on Nov 28 in the country’s commercial hub of Shanghai, the 107,000 square meter CIHS featured 2,500 manufacturers and suppliers from the fields of tools, building hardware, fasteners, locks and security products and small electrical equipment. Among them, the scale of the locks and security showcase doubled, while the abrasive products zone saw an expansion of 60 percent in area.
38,365 visitors pored over the exhibits over the three days, with 3,146 of them arriving from abroad specially for the event.
On this year’s showcase, organizer Michael Dreyer, Vice President Asia Pacific, Koelnmesse GmbH, said: “This year the show has expanded in scale compared to the previous year, and we’ve introduced the machinery zone for the first time. In addition, we can see substantial improvements in the design and quality of exhibits.”
“The number of Chinese buyers continues to increase. CIHS is a real international fair. This event is also a chance to meet our current customers from the Asia Pacific area. Of course, we’ll be there next year,” said Rolf Hanser, Area Sales Manager, Drebo, an exhibitor from Germany.
“CIHS offers the best opportunity to discover the China market, especially knowing this fair is managed by Koelnmesse, which brings us support, assistance and logistical help if we meet with any problems. We also have been surprised to meet buyers coming not only from Asian countries but also from worldwide,” expressed Ercan Tokatlioglu, manager of Interabrasasiv Turkey.
A gathering of top international and Chinese brands
200 overseas exhibitors from ten countries and regions such as Germany, Italy, the US, Japan, Korea, India and Taiwan and strong showing from the national and regional pavilions with the likes of the Association of German Tool Manufacturers (FWI), the Taiwan Hand Tool Manufacturers` Association, the Importers & Exporters Association of Taipei (IEAT) and the Taichung Importers & Exporters Chamber of Commerce elevated the event to a high point. Apart from that, the Chinese hardware industry bases of Anping and Huanghua, both in Hebei province; Jinhua, Wenzhou, Pujiang and Haiyan in Zhejiang province as well as Shunde and Zhongshan Xiaolan in Guangdong province were also represented by some of the regions’ top companies.
Making use of CIHS as a platform to meet buyers were also Chinese heavyweights, Max power, Great Wall Precision, Great Star, China Land, Jiangsu Hongbao and Sun-flex.
Promoting house brands from Chinese manufacturers
As China’s economy grows, the next stage of progression in local hardware manufacturing naturally moves towards developing homegrown China brands. A showcase of the best products from China’s top 25 tool makers included JJ Tools, who exhibited house-branded items and represented the local industry’s capabilities to produce quality wares and drew wide attention from visitors.
Rave reviews for two sub-exhibitions, three feature zones
The China International Building Hardware Show and the China International Locks & Security Show returned once again, bigger and better with dedicated buyer delegations and business matching sessions. Another two mainstays of the event, the Protective Products zone and the Abrasive Tools & Materials zone continued to cater to the specific needs of buyers, together with the addition of a new Processing Machinery zone.
Establishing segment-specific sub-events and feature zones is a major step and signal towards building a more specialized event, which is also the trend for trade fairs around the world. As a major hardware-exporting segment, the market for building hardware is immense in China, while locks is a traditional yet emerging product segment with technology advancements expanding the market.
The next edition of CIHS will take place from Sep 18-20, 2014.
